to the saved by Jesus about page. My name is Paul Herby-Rainer. I am 32 years old and married to Monika, who is 38 years young. We have been married for four years in November 2008.

 

I have children from previous relationships.

 

I became born again when I was 19 years old. My full conversion testimony can be found by visiting the saved by Jesus forum, which I encourage you to read.

 

I have backslidden during my walk with Jesus and I want to be honest about this to encourage my brothers and sisters, who may be going through similar experiences to repent and return to the Lord.

 

I always remember reading these scriptures as God was calling me back home (reading the whole chapter is very edifying but the verses I have listed were my highlights)

 

Jeremiah 3.14, Turn, O backsliding children, saith the LORD; for I am married unto you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion:

 

Jeremiah 3:19, But I said, how shall I put thee among the children, and give thee a pleasant land, a goodly heritage of the hosts of nations? And I said, Thou shalt call me, my father; and shalt not turn away from me.

 

20, Surely as a wife treacherously departeth from her husband, so have ye dealt treacherously with me, O house of Israel, saith the LORD.

 

21, A voice was heard upon the high places, weeping and supplications of the children of Israel: for they have perverted their way, and they have forgotten the LORD their God.

 

22, Return, ye backsliding children, and I will heal your backslidings. Behold, we come unto thee; for thou art the LORD our God.

 

The main reasons for my backsliding in hindsight were quite simple. I never fully accepted the Bible as the authoritative word of God, which ultimately led to me making moral calls based on my feelings. For example I would justify fornication by claiming it was marriage in my heart and before God. These relationships lasted for years and children were conceived but it was still fornication. However you want to dress it up.

 

Not waking up and asking the Lord Jesus to be the Lord of my life and not praying everyday to him was also away to nullify me. After all if you are asking for forgiveness of sins on a daily basis you are not going to be doing the same sin again and again unless something is wrong with your repentance approach. So when I was backsliding I was simply hiding from God.

 

Now for some good news, since being back with my Lord and saviour I can again feel Gods guiding hand back in my life.Once again the Lord brings the lost to me to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ.

 

So my advice to any lukewarm Christians or backsliders is pick up your cross and truly make Jesus the Lord of your life and ask for his will to be done in your life. Amen.

 

What I believe in:-

 

I believe the only salvation available to mankind is through Jesus Christ.

 

I believe that Jesus Christ is God manifest in the flesh, born of a virgin, fully man and fully God and lived a sinless life.

 

I believe that Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, was punished and crucified for the sin of humanity.

 

I believe that Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, was resurrected from the dead after three days and nights.

 

I believe that this act conquered death.

 

I believe that Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, has been glorified and has now ascended to heaven and sits at the right hand side of the Father and all things in heaven and earth are subject to him.

 

I believe that Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, will return to this earth for a second time for the purpose of judgment.

 

I believe the Holy Spirit enables the sinner to repent and believe in Jesus Christ.

 

I believe whoever believes Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God and that he died for their sins, fully repents in their hearts and confesses Jesus is their Lord with their lips will be saved.

 

I believe that once someone accepts Jesus Christ as their personal savior they will then receive the gift of the Holy Spirit who will act as their personal teacher, guide and reveal the scriptures to them.

 

I believe the Holy Spirit is Gods power manifest and is the third person of the triune God.

 

I believe that God is triune in nature not three gods but one God eternally manifest as the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

 

I believe in a plain literal reading of Genesis and believe in a six 24-hour day creation.

 

I believe that the bible in its original autographs is the inspired word of God.
